R.I.P. Irvin Kershner

Irvin Kershner, director of the best Star Wars movie by a mile, The Empire Strikes Back, has sadly passed away today. I can't even stress how important Star Wars was to me whilst growing up, so I'm genuinely gutted about this news. Kershner pushed Star Wars towards a more personal, character driven dimension, and showed the world that families are totally fucked up and dysfunctional even in space. Rest in peace.

The cat thinks that he is a parrot. I keep telling you cat, you are not a parrot.

Soon after he entered the machine. All hail Skydoucher.

Pleasure In Self Destruction

I have just been alerted of this record by my friend Arthur via Twitter (it definitely has it's uses), he himself is a producer under the name Pariah, and as I have an intensely limited knowledge of electronic music I wont embarrass myself by trying to write about it, but it sounds incredibly good to me, you can hear his work here. The Secret released Solve et Colagula on Southern Lord records, allegedly signed straight away after a first listen of their demo. This record is a misanthropic assault, a dark, brutal and visceral experience. I haven't got a physical copy of the record yet, but as always with Southern Lord, it's bound to be satisfying. For fans of negativity. Worship.

I dont want to post a mediafire link due to Southern Lord being bang on blog posts (I had a link to the Thorr's Hammer record deleted off my old blog), but I'm sure you could find it of your own accord with a simple google search.

Queen of the Borrowed Light.

WITTR play with Shrinebuilder on the 2nd of December. Easily my favourite active band, without doubt. If you haven't seen them already, go see them. I have nothing clever to write on the matter, just do.

I made another year, happy birthday to me and Charles Manson.

Man in van.

On an old blog I posted another documentary by Sean Dunne, but I feel this one is far better. His subject is Jimmy, a man who lives in his van by the river in Manhattan. I find a great appeal in this man lifestyle, washing with a fire hydrant and using his dogs as insulation. This is a great character study of a person who society wouldn't normally give the time of day, an everyman on the streets of New York. Dunne makes a great connection with his subjects and seems to gain their trust, which in turn makes for a great film and makes it intensely engaging. Sean makes great little documentaries which I admire greatly, so I urge you to check out his other films.

The cat bit my lip today, like really sunk his teeth into it. Yesterday he attempted to break Laura's laptop by pouring water over it (he knocked over a vase onto it), for a few days before this he had been snooping around our laptops, familiarising himself with the intricate workings of it. I'm almost positive this was a pre-meditated attack and that he fucking hates us. I find it hard to say this as he sleeps on my shoulder this instant, but he's a bit of a prick.

21 tomorrow, if someone wants to pay for a couple of tickets to Norway that would be fine.

Pompshit.

Vogue are from Belgium, my friend Sammy is in this band, when he stayed round my house recently I pointed out that he washes himself with 'douche', I've seen him throw up out of his nose onto a girls shoe because he'd never tried K Cider before and it destroyed him, he likes a fry up, and got his mind blown by a baked potato, funny little Euro. The latest release from Vogue is the Pompshit 12", get high and rage to this, it's fucking awesome. The cover photo was taken by Sam Swift when we both went over and stayed with Sammy, they played a show with a DJ called 'Naughty Nathan' who loved grooming hardcore boys and once touch Barry's dick. He did play Danzig though and me and Swift pushed over a girl. The day after this show we smoked weed that we found on the street in Antwerp and Swift nearly passed out into spaghetti, I've never seen someone turn such a bizarre colour. After a nap we went out to a club, where we napped some more. A lot of napping involved.

You can pick up Pompshit from Hardware Records and you can listen to a track on the Hardware Records myspace

YEAH BOIIIIIIIIIII.

Resurrection.

I've decided to give blogging another go, to counter the extreme boredom and banality of internet usage. I'm not entirely sure what course this will take but I'm almost positive it will be rendered totally useless in about 3 months time. Skywalker (our new kitten) dressed up for halloween, boarder hopping wetback.

Crowd Control are a band from Dublin, I had the pleasure of playing with them at Sex Dungeon's last show in Kingston (first ever show at the same venue, first on again, how much we achieved), they play seething, visceral hardcore. Proving their worth on their split with Mob Rules (probably the best band in the UK right now), they have uploaded a preview of their forthcoming record Modern Bullshit. Kick down a fucking house.
